this was in todays Guardian news paper.....

Russian prosecutors have charged a group of 35 men with posing online as women to scam dozens of foreigners out of cash.

The men managed to swindle 125 men from Australia, Britain, Canada, Germany and the US out of a total of 5m roubles (£100,000), prosecutors in the Volga region of Mari El said in a statement on Thursday.

The accused worked out of rented flats in the republic's capital, Yoshkar-Ola, and the nearby village of Medvedevo from the autumn of 2004 through to July 2007. Each flat had 10 computers that were manned 24 hours a day, usually by 15 people at a time, say prosecutors.

"Acting as female residents of the republic, members of the criminal group carried out electronic correspondence with foreigners under the pretext of getting to know each other.

"In the course of their communications, they asked the foreigners to send money for the various needs of their 'beloveds.'" Those who did sent from $100 (£63) to $4,000,prosecutors added.

The group then used the cash to pay expenses, including rent, buying new computers and paying off local police so they would not be investigated, the statement said.

Prosecutors did not explain what prompted the investigation into the group, only that the arrests came "as a result of a special large-scale operation" conducted by the republic's FSB office in concert with US homeland security.

Most members of the group are students in their 20s, the statement said. They have been charged with fraud and forming a criminal group and could face up to 10 years in prison.

The US embassy in Moscow devotes an entire section of its website warning that it "receives reports almost every day of fraud committed against US citizens by internet correspondents professing love and romantic interest".

Scammers usually use professional models' photographs gleaned from the internet before tricking their targets into sending money for airline tickets, visas and other expenses.

I would stretch their necks with a rope.

During my search I too have encountered scammers and game players but any guy who sends $4000 to a "woman" he has not met in reality deserves all he gets, I have no sympathy for such stupidity.

Unfortunately these guys are probably only the tip of the iceberg and there will be more lining up to take their places.

As long as there are stupid and gullible men there will always be scammers.

the whole thing is kind of weird. Men posing as women writing to men. I personally couldn't do it simply because I could not write a letter to another man with any romantic words or intention. yuck imo

How are you going to get rid of all the politicians?

You all might recall back in late 2008, or perhaps early 2009, my solution was crocodiles. :croc:

The politicians who were primarily guilty for the mortgage housing bubble and, as a result, for the overall financial crisis would be fed to a pool of hungry crocodiles. :croc:

The top candidates at the time were Bush, Dodd, Frank and Pelosi. But those were just the appetizers - all of Congress for the past decade were liable. I suggested that a number of guilty CEOs, especially the heads of Fannie and Freddy, should also be fed to the crocs. :croc:

I still think this is an excellent solution to the problem. Today, I would add the entire Obamshevik administration, corrupt labor leaders (is that redundant?), a bevy of news media liars, most of Hollywood, anyone associated in a policy position at the Federal Reserve since the 1970s, the European Parliament, the organizers/leaders of the Occupy Everything "movement," the entire state government of California, any remaining founders of Wal-Mart, and the ruling mullahs of Iran. The croc pool will be busy. :croc:

Of course, there will be a special place of dishonor in the crocodile pool for George Soros. He gets fed to a trio of specially selected Australian saltwater crocs. The really big ones. :croc:

I think we're going to need more crocodiles... a LOT of them. :croc: :croc: :croc: :croc: :croc: :croc: :croc:

Perhaps for Yanukovich and those intellectual elites in the Rada (that is clearly a joke - most of them can't count to 20 without removing their shoes) we can try a different approach: They should be stripped to their shorts, then staked out on the ground in a large, enclosed stadium. Then, we would release the...
