Any local council that has lost money through banking with Iceland will raise the council tax so it's the ordinary person who will have to pay for this nonsense.

At the end of the day it does not matter Bob .
Iceland tried to muscle in by offering higher deposit rates which --- as it turned out -- they could not afford .
They bought into a great many Team GB businesses .
Now they cannot pay .
Tough shite . They will pay .
End of story .

Do you think the U.K. will actually freeze private company assets in Britain because the Icelandic government can't pay? That would be almost as bad as some of the things the Russian government has done.

An example of anti-terrorism laws made in the name of "security" being used to give a government the power to exert tyrannical actions.

So the UK is deciding what is and is not illegal in another Sovereign country

AND utilizing it's own Anti-Terrorist Laws to strong arm a small nation,
which has NO record whatsoever of Terrorist Activity?

Aren't there Laws in the UK defining who exactly this legistlation can be used
against and for what causes?

It's like I said , right from the beginning , Mr Smutty
First you preserve the system
Later you clear up the mess and get rid of the dead wood .
As it happens , we still teeter right on the edge and there is a possibility we will all go far lower than standard recession .
Worrying about niceties is reminiscent of fiddling while London Bridge burns . imo

ME: That would be almost as bad as some of the things the Russian government has done.

To clarify :), ,I brought up Russia in this topic, b/c of our past topics where we discussed GB expressing anger at Russian government for trying to take over western investments, for example in the BP incident. And now the Prime Minister of GB is threatening similar actions.

Russia ( TNK ) has withdrawn action against BP if you check your news updates .
Iceland population is under 400, 000
They went bankrupt -- a literal lie -- to theoretically divest themselves of debt .
It does not matter which laws you use to nail a bastard thief . You nail them .

It might be worth remembering that the Icelandic economy is essentially a front for Russian investors (many of them probably very dodgy) . How else do you think they suddenly acquired the funds to become a major player in global financial services and buy up major companies in the UK and elsewhere in such a short space of time.

Why do you think the Russians have just been pumping billions of dollars into Iceland over the last few days in order to prop up the house of cards?

If the British Government is shafting some Russian investors I can only applaud. They've had it coming BIG TIME.

I don't care if it's being used against foreigners. Anyway what are you complaining about that's the way your government carries on its Global Keystone Cops act all the time.

Since when did putting your money in a bank account become the moral/legal equivalent of pi$$ing it up the wall at a casino? That has to be one of the most ridiculous analogies I have heard in a long time.

I was checking this team called Oakland Raiders .
Why do you support them ? They are very poor and in recent years a bit of a joke .
I see their great rivals, the Denver Broncos , are in a different league , having won 21 of the last 27 meetings .
I hear you have one or two gender benders playing . Is this the attraction for you ?
