Chechnya earthquake

GROZNY, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - The number of people killed in Chechnya in an earthquake measuring about 5.5 on the Richter scale has risen to four, a spokesman for the Russian North Caucasus republic's emergencies ministry said.
Akhmed Dzheirkhanov said buildings had been destroyed in several districts of Chechnya as well as in the capital, Grozny, and the cities of Gudermes and Argun.
The residents of Grozny, especially those living in multistory buildings, were reported to be leaving their homes in fear of more tremors.
People in the neighboring republics of North Ossetia, Daghestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria, as well as the Stavropol Territory, were also affected by the quake.
As we say in spanish: "Las desgracias nunca vienen solas" or in english: "It never rains but it pours"

Ramonchu, I agree with you every day we have hundred earthquakes in the world and thousand people killed by traffic or poverty but the news come from several sources, russians and not russians, so we must trust all we can.

First information arrived to me from AFP news agency and then checked in RIA. I am with you when talk about "russian propaganda" and I quoted RIA to show how could be the real drama. Only they can inform from there and only them will say what they want.

You can't dubt about the earthquake, many geological sources confirmed it. You should dubt about information from Russian emergency ministery. If only 10-12 persons death and some others injured or really are hundred or thousand. If only a few without power or all the region are off. If just a few buildings collapsed or a lot.

I hope you check again your sources and show to all how real is the problem.

I never even thought to doubt it , and , as we both probably know , it was a light quake --- under 6.0 -- and even the latest deaths estimates are low --- in the wider picture .
I then Post a story about a drunken Russian submariner who has mistakenly launched one of the latest ( still in trials ) missiles which has landed in Chechnya , rather than somewhere in the Arctic .( correct missile identification and actual Russian nuclear submarine !! ) because he does not know which direction he is facing
What sort of imbecile would take that light hearted Post seriously without reflecting , let alone thinking ?
Does someone really think and imagine I have access to secret Russian missile trials and even know the state of underseas drinking orgies ?

This is probably old hat to all of you, but Mark sent me a link a couple days ago and I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself.

Some guy in got into a flame war with another guy online, and it pissed him off so much that he drove 1,300 miles from VA to TX to the other guy's house. All along the way, he stopped at the state borders and took photos of the welcome signs to post online (I heard a rumor that he also posted taunts that he was coming for him, but who knows if that's true or not).

Well, the guy in TX didn't take him seriously, but when VA arrived, he set fire to the guy's trailer and burned it to the ground! (!!!)

That in itself is funny enough, but listen to this— that guy from VA is a 9-year veteran of the Navy who earned several medals during his career, including pistol expert and rifle expert. He is Fire Controlman 2nd Class Petty Officer Russell Tavares, weapons systems operator at the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center.

And the best part? His nickname online was PyroDice.
