Грозный на самом деле становится очень красивым. Проспект, о котором говорится в статье (см. другой топик на англ.) очень красивый, широкий, с парками, скверами и фонтанами и с очень красивой мечетью. Проспект до мечети назван в честь кадыровая, а после нее в честь путина. мечень особенно красива вечером, когда она подсвечена, но я не софткала ее вечером. Везде очень чисто, ни одной бумажки, все светофоры работают, все разметки четкие и нет гаишников.

Grozniy is really becomeing bery nice. the avenue this article tells about is etremely beautiful, wide with nice parks and fountains and a very impressing mosk. the avenue before the mosk is called after kadirov, and further the mosk after putin. the mosk is most beautiful in the evening when it is lighted but i didn't make a picture of it in the evening. Streets r very clean, all traffic lights r working and no traffic police in the streets

the town seems to be is under a general reconstruction, not only a centre. the avenue is in the centre, but even when u go further from it it is either reconstructed or construction works r running. many places were destryed and new things r built instead of them but also many which r rennovated. there is a monument to kadirov senior on the place where lenin was before. the arcitectural style is similar :)

Нонна, когда ты пишешь ответ на чей-то пост, прокрути немного ниже, увидишь
длинную кнопищу "Manage Attachments". Нажми на нее. Увидишь кнопищи "Обзор".
Их три. Ты можешь загрузить сразу три фоточки, но не очень большие. Они сами уменьшатся, но ты все же предварительно ресайзни их на своем компе. Потом Жмешь"Upload".Потом можешь закрыть то окно вообще, сабмит свой пост, фоточки появятся чудесным образом из ниоткуда.

As for foreign tourists in Chechen Republic, you see, all these photos were taken by Swedes. So it's possible to come there, though I personally have never had such a desire. East or West, home the best.

Oh, I like the way the buildings are being restored! The city looks very nice-good pavements, modern roofs on the buildings, good and expensive window frames. And even bushes have been planted like they are usually planted in St.P. , for example. :)

Нонна, открываешь здесь окно, потом, не закрывая его идешь в Контрольную панель, свой профиль, в альбом, открываешь желаемую фоту, копируешь верхний УРЛ под фотой, возвращаешься сюда и нажимаешь на иконку с гокой, вставляешь скопированный адрес урля. Готово!

Нонна, я посмотрела твой альбом-обалдеть!
Открываешь фоту, под ней есть две длинные строчки. Над первой верхней написано "URL Address" или что0то вроде того. Нажимаешь на эту верхнюю длинную строчку в рамочке, она синеет при этом. запоминаешь ее и приходишь сюда. Нажимаешь на иконку с гокой и после http://вставляешь тот длинный адрес. Жмешь и все ОК!

They flattened the City and not one building was left standing .

So let's admire the shots but let us also have the complete truth and full perspective , please .

there r appartment buildings which were not completely destroyed and were reconstructed. here r some of them. they r not in the very centre

The roads r simply very good. much more better than in ossetia. and u know somehow feeling of security in there , many people walking, many kids, youth, no police, just a checkpoint between ingushetai and checnia and then traffic polist post closer to checnia on the cross road

Everybody knows about Berlin--- completely unlike Grozny -- and I suggest you don't get involved in being reminded what the Red Army did .
However , most people here will not have known about Grozny's appalling recent History and to say that any picture can be divorced from its context is frankly not a line that is even worth countering .
However , I shall make no other comments except to underline that you are showing a brand new city which the Russians have paid for because they obliterated the old one .

Grozniy didn't suffer much from the recent earthquake, avenue is not damaged.
and yes- ramon- it' s almost a new town.

the earthquake was quite strong, first they said its centre was in dagestan and reported of 1 then 4 people died

when it happened all people in vladi rushed out to the streets from the houses. but in north ossetia it was a wave from chechnia, chechen regions in kurchaloi and i think gudermes suffered most. they said on tv that out of 12 killed 4 were kids

в субботу в чечне, дагестане, северной осетии и ингушетии.
эпицентр был в чечне. кажется 12 человек погибли, среди них есть дети

Brits did not almost totally destroy the native populations of America or Australia (in America in particular most of that went on after the British pulled out). We'll have to hold our hands up to Tasmania though. As for building the economy through slavery I think you're overstating the case somewhat. Britain was heavily involved in the West African slave trade (as many other countries were) but for a shorter time than many the first slaves in British colonies in North America, Caribbean and Australia were actually white British convicts and not Africans. As for India, the British just practiced the same customs as native Indian leaders who defeated other Indian leaders in battle then looted them :-). If anything the British were less rapacious than the Indians themselves overall.

The points made by Captain Birdseye are very fair . They are there on record and that is why it does not matter whether you are English , German ,Indian or Russian -- facts from impartial , fully researched sources are universal .
We all know what the Germans did as they rampaged into Russia . It is well documented in the greatest detail , whether you are Indian , English , German or Russian .
The difference is that the behaviour of the Red Army has never been revealed to the Russian people .
That is my point , Jurassic .
But the totally chronicled , independent , impartial facts are there IF you have the guts to search and find them .
You will not like what is revealed and the Russian Army's behaviour is understandable in light of what their nation had suffered at the hands of the Germans .
But the truth of the matter is that the Red Army went berserk and the whole command chain broke totally .
