Yesterday I was watching the baseball game between the Twins and
the Yankees and I saw a play which really kind of irritates me. There
was a double play ball and the yankee player running to second base
went out of the baseline to take out the Twins shortstop to prevent
him from throwing to first.
As a result of this the Twins player received a broken leg and will be
out for several weeks.
I have seen this happen frequently and I think these types of plays
should be heavily fined, there's just no excuse for it, it's baseball, not
football. Even in football if you tried to take a guys legs out you would
get a penalty and probably a fine on top of it.
So, what do you guys think about this type of play?

agree 100 percent, that is the most inane tactic in baseball and is totally opposite to the beauty of the game.

It seems like it would be appropriate for the league to suspend the offending player for the duration of the injured player's absence. A season for a season.

Well... they are the Yankees, so you certainly can't expect better. In baseball, the Yankees are the epitome of evil.

There is no excuse for a player to go out of the baseline to take out a fielder. The base runner's job is to get from one base to the next. If he goes into the base with "cleats up," he can make a case that at least he was going for the base. But if he goes out of the baseline - he should be fined and perhaps suspended.

Phucking Yankees, even there fans were booing the injured player
as they were carrying him off the field.
Jeez, there are just a surly bunch of a-holes out there.
