The retreat (an earned bonus for the insurance sales people) was scheduled long before the meltdown and the hotel room costs could not have been refunded, but the excessive ancillary costs of the trip certainly could have been avoided.
Doing so might have helped demonstrate a recognition of gross negligence, if not actual fraud, on the part of the AIG financial products division executives (who were not present at the retreat). The best we can hope for now is that they will have a nice long vacation at one of the less comfortable federal prisons after forfeiting their golden parachutes.
To return to the title of this thread...
Whether we like it or not, we are in this together now.
This article espouses many positions with which one should argue (socialism, conspiracy theories, and 9/11 come immediately to mind) and is weak on solutions, but gives an intriguing history of how we got into this mess. Only by fully understanding how we got here will we find the way out and avoid repetition.

Interesting to see:
they have money, krowns; they ask for money , rubles? ( if they are clever Russian could let them some dollars); they lost brittish's money , pounds.
And they are looking for new money, euros.

It's pleasent to see all that countries (they are many) playing in free economic and financial system, trying to avoid europeans rules and claiming now to come back european home.

I wouldn't give one English penny to those morons who put money into an Icelandic Bank .
Of course they would freeze accounts .
