If you have a laptop, you have many chances to have a Synaptics touchpad on it and use not only as a mouse.
This manufacturer has created some utilities to use your touchpad as drum machine, Simon game or as Theremin (do you remember R2D2 voice?)
Synaptics utilities (http://www.synaptics.com/support/utili.cfm)
Video demostration (please don't strip down your touchpad :becky: )

PS: Check your touchpad manufacturer and driver version before download and install ;)

I have discovered new options in my laptop yesterday, when I spilt cold water on the keyboard :becky:
It started changing registers at random and adding an X in front of every word. I'm glad it dried up now and is back to normal mode. ;)

Water?
Utter fabrication :p :becky: It it was anything but water, the effects would have persisted. I speak with knowledge - i once spilt yogurt over the same laptop - and the mike is still not working. So I came to the conclusion that spiling water is allright, but sticky substances are a no-no.

Nobody knows limits of these strange machines. Usually mineral water is not so bad. Sparkling water or Coke are worst. It didnt't show X in front of every word, only XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX..............:becky:

Saprosky, if you see XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX it doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with a keyboard. It might mean that the post was either moderated by admin or contains reference to a really hardcore porn :becky:

actually, i used to have to repair laptops as part of my job. you dont want to spill anything on them, particularly sugar based or electrolytic substances. there are several membranes under the keys. sandwiched in layers between the membranes are graphite traces which connect to the wires (basically the equivalent of a circuit board, but made with graphite). Unfortunately, water has a tendency to wash the graphite away... onto the circuits beneath which are water soluable. it will work for a while but eventually the lack of graphite in the rinsed area will stop working, and whereever the graphite went will be now prone to shorts. electrolytic solutions are even worse as they make connections that are not supposed to be there... they are a b*tch to clean, and it is very time consuming, but fortunately repair is simple: replace anything that got wet. .... very expensive!
