To say it has been a little crazy in the forum the last couple of days would be an understatement.
It seems that many people here have forgotten about the holiday spirit.
Through the years I have come to the forum as a friendly place to learn about other cultures and have some fun with the many people in here that I have come to think of as friends.
I have seen many good people come and go and a few not so friendly people.
I think back to members that have passed away and that have had a lasting effect on me like Steve (the constant voice of reason) or I think back to people that are gone now and they have not been missed.
The question that comes to mind while thinking about the last couple of days is Why?
Why are some people able to take what comes their way and stay positive?
Why do some people get so much pleasure from making others miserable?
I fully understand getting upset when you feel you have been wronged.
I can appreciate wanting to defend yourself from what you feel is wrong.
What I don't understand is the how some people choose to do it.
Maybe I am wrong but I have always understood that the difference between children and adults is the ability to think and reason before reacting. We are all guilty of over reaction at times for various reasons and perhaps that is what is going on now.
Most of the time when I post something here I do it from my heart and I put some thought into what I post because I want to leave a good impression of who I really am as a person and also because I want people from other cultures to perhaps get a correct image of Americans.
When I read other peoples post I try to put myself into their head and attempt to understand where they are coming from. Even if I do not agree with what they say I respect that they have an opinion. To be honest I lose that respect when I learn that the person is only trying to stir up Sh*t.
So to get right to my point.
If you think about the last couple of day in the forum are you representing yourself and your culture in the way that you feel is best?
Would you bring your children here to learn how adults really act?
I have read how many members say they are done with the forum because of this or that. If I choose to leave this forum it will simply be because I no longer feel I am learning about other cultures.
For those that say they will leave is there a better way or maybe a more positive way to seek the changes that you feel are needed?
Now finally for my holiday wish for all of you.
Please slow down and take a deep breath. Learn to understand and to forgive
those that you feel have wronged you. Try and turn what you feel is a negative into something positive. Have a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON and may your NEW YEAR be filled with joy and happiness.:Laie_95:
