MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian warships, currently on a long-range sortie that will bring them to the Caribbean in November, will enter the Mediterranean Sea on October 5 and make several port calls in the region, the Navy said on Wednesday.
A naval task group from the Northern Fleet, comprising the nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy (Peter the Great), the large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko, and support ships, left a naval base in northern Russia on September 22 and is currently in the northern Atlantic, having covered a distance of 1,000 nautical miles (2,000 km) in a week.
"Having some spare time before a joint exercise with the Venezuelan navy, which is planned for November 2008, the warships will perform a number of tasks in the Mediterranean Sea and visit several Mediterranean ports, including Tripoli," the Navy's press service said in a statement.
Russian warships are scheduled to participate in joint naval exercises with the Venezuelan navy in the Caribbean on November 10-14, in line with the 2008 training program, and in order to expand military cooperation with foreign navies.
During the entire mission, the task group is expected to cover a distance of 15,000 nautical miles (30,000 km).
Russia announced last year that its Navy had resumed and would build up a constant presence in different regions of the world's oceans.

Saprosky, you've been reading to many R-ammonia's posts and seem to have caught his paranoia. Relax, it's your birthday. Go and drink some sangria and have a sex party. It's much more fun than being obsessed over Russian Navi's maneuvres. :kuku:

Russia playing Boats with divi countries has its comical aspects .
The far more worrying aspect is that all of this toadying is a ruse to sell Russian armaments and nuclear know how .
The tie up between Russia and Iran is past argument .
Venezuala is the next country which will be nuclear armed and then Nicaragua .
It's a sensible time for installations in Iran to be raised to the ground .
Either take very hard action against Putin or sit back and prey Medvedev can control him --- see my Topic on Kremlin factions .
In all seriousness , my guess is that Putin is now mad as a hatter and has fallen to the Power Virus which grips so many international power brokers after a short time at the top .
Bush has become a laughing stock and is History very soon but the Russian situation is far more worrying because of the incredible system differences in accountability . And the fact that their Media cannot criticise him without retribution --- literally murder or disappearance .

That make me think, with the fall of Berlin Wall we were right to think the world would become more peacefull, sure and opened. Disarmement has been often evocated.
We had the choice, but it seems some leaders drive us in a wrong way, who are they?

I wasn't going to say this because one or two of you think that I am obsessed about Russian games .
Well . I am .
But Lilliputin announced he was going to build three ( I believe ) Aircraft Carriers ... -- God knows what he was going to put on them .
But then it was pointed out to him that they have no port where such ships could even be half built .It literally was impossible .
ROFL .

Hadn't you heard? The Radio City Music Hall Rockettes are well into intense top-secret negotiations with Vlad even now. They are in desperate need of a new platform, but would prefer to get it on the cheap...
