Imagine my surprise when I realised how badly we are suffering in this world recession .
At the bottom of one of the pages here and today , I saw bushcraft courses being advertised in Sussex which is the region ( we say county ) that I live . wildwordbushcaft.com , to be precise
Bushcraft is a nasty Australian expression referring to living in the wild ( the bush) and having to find your own food and beer .
Sussex is considered an affluent area to live in and has nothing remotely like bush country . In fact , if you scrounged in the litter bins you could live quite royally providing you could stand the smell of rotting meat and the embarrassment of meeting a friend at the next bin .
Could you live "rough" in your own neighbourhood or state or oblast ?
What skills have you --- shoplifting , cunning , impersonation etc ?
When do you expect to be thrown to the bush as I so obviously just have ?
And why do you think they were advertising this thousands of real miles from home ( Sussex) ? Is this a message from one of my close friends like Calgary or Vita ?

Why is life so difficult ?

Marina got a letter from a lady friend who went back to visit Irkutsk recently. The lady says that the 'dumpster diving' situation has gotten much worse lately, with people violently defending their private trash cans against others. It is especially bad if the trash can belongs to a richer family that has 'quality' garbage.

This got me thinking. If the world financial system did collapse and money became worthless...

In the U.S. the people with the mindset of New Orleans during hurricane Katrina would be the first to die. They would be taking tantrums in the street demanding for the government to do something while they starve to death.

While a lot of country people have the knowledge and resources where they would be able to live off the land indefinitely and they are well armed :) I would stay away from the big cities.
