Has anyone an idea of what may be interesting places to visit in Toronto?
I will be there all of next week on business and other than the AGO have no idea what to do with myself of an evening!

You could find travel brochures of the world's most interesting places to holiday and I know for a fact that Chile does not figure in the first five thousand .
I have a feeling that the Spanish were responsible for the wholesale desecration of all shops and out of town markets and due to the rigidity of religous observances, places of public entertainment simply do not exist .
Never mind , there is a flourishing wine industry and Yali is a jolly and inexpensive number which rather sums up Toronto and the whole Chilean experience .

Thank you so much!
I now look forward to my visit with greatly improved outlook and will be certain to ask for a charquicán at the first restaurant I encounter.
I pray it's not pretending to be French.

It looks as though this is not a good time to visit Toronto.
The City Workers are striking over sick days.
A garbage strike in mid-summer...
I think I'll be sick

it is not a pleasant smell in some areas. Nonetheless if you are in downtown Toronto you will have a hundred things to do all within walking distance. There is the usual CN Tower stuff and Rogers stadium if you wanna see the Jays. You can take a shuttle bus to Ontario Place for the day. They have water parks and live shows every evening. There are amazing restaurants and three theatres in the heart of downtown (another two just outside downtown) Jersey Boys and a string of other famous shows are still playing.
Niagara Falls is an hour away and you can take a bus there (bus terminal also downtown)

Huney - do me a favor and go to Niagara Falls! And please - make many pictures and place them here!!! It is one of the three sacramental places on the Earth.

Sarah - I have been to Niagara. It is beautiful, or was 35 years ago...
I will have my car, so it should be easy enough to do.
What are the other two?

Huney,
the other two are Grand Canyon and Eiffel Tower... forgive me for being selfish a little bit, but I recommend to visit these places to everybody, as they are my dreams, but I do not go there, because when I visit them personally, I will not have any dreams left... That's why I like to see them with the eyes of the other people

Actually, I will be working and lodging in Markham but thought it would be nice to go into Toronto in the evenings.
The AGO has free admission on Wednesday evenings and is close to Chinatown for dinner afterward. I adore Chinese food :)
So sad I will have missed the jazz festival...

I think I understand what you mean, but would argue that dreams are easily made. There are so many beautiful places in this world, I do not think you could ever run out of them.
I have been to Paris a few times and never went into the tower - I find crowds repellent. I was happy to lie on my back in the park looking up at it, quietly alone. It's quite a sight as the lights come up in the evening.

Is this Eiffel Tower in the next village after Toronto and just after the Coloured Canyon?

huney, if you are staying in Markham you don't need to go to Chinatown. There are asian restaurants everywhere on Hwy7. Also, to stay in theme go to the Pacific Mall (Kennedy and Steeles - I think). It is entirely Chinese!!! Great place to meet asian women....umm for guys.
During the summer months there is always - and I mean always - something happening in Toronto. You don't work for Amex do you? (their canadian hq is in Markham)

Well... should I run across any guys, I will now be sure to point them in the right direction :)
I want to visit AGO to see their Surrealism exhibition, is there any good Italian food nearby?

Sorry, no. I'll be at Sage Software. I am adding yet another programming language to my repertoire.
