The most expensive house in a tree will be built in Britain. An unidentified Russian oligarch ordered the three storeyed house for his son. The 100,000-dollar worth dream house will be shipped to Moscow in May, The Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reports.
Six employees of Treehouse Company have been working on the custom-made house for several weeks already. The house will have stained glass windows, a plasma TV, stairways, a wire bridge, and an elevator on ropes that will be able to lift the cargo of up to 250 kilos.
The company’s owner, Herbie McKenzie, said that it was the largest order that the firm had received in eight years of its work. The company will produce a 12-meter tree house that will sit not in a tree, but between several trees. It will be the largest tree house that the company has ever made.
The house is being built out of doors because it does not fit inside the barn, where employees usually work. The generous Russian father will have a look at the construction before it is disassembled to be shipped to Russia.
The workers have to use an interpreter in their communication with the customer, but they are certain that the client will like the house when he sees it. The company takes account of Russia’s severe climate conditions too.
As for the boy, he is one lucky child.

Does that not make you feel sick? So many people starving and homeless and he spends that sort of money on a toy for his kid?

I have personally no problems with such behaviour if this man is doing much or more for people who need it, or generally for his country, with his fortune. We can not ask to rich people to leave most part of their fortune pretending they are rich. But we can wait from them to have a responsible behaviour. It's a question of moral and education. You can enjoy your money in a very selfish way and fook the world ... or enjoy and not forget the world where you live in and people around you.

It doesn't make me sick.
It is better him to spend those money for this "toy" than just to give money to somebody as charity.
Looking from economical approach he gave work to six workers, stimulated demand on companies what sell materials and equipment. These workers and companies will pay their taxes and will not ask for unemployment benefits, will buy food and solve problems with their homes. So buying such toys for his son he actually stimulates British economy :)

Well...as is often said "it's all relative*"... $100,000 for this guy could be the equivalent of $1 to the rest of us...
If I was given the choice of a $1 treehouse for my Son...so him & his mates could have a lot of fun with or give $1 to charity...I know what I would choose...
For all we know...he may already give to various charities or help communities in other ways...though reading his 'status'...I suspect this may not be the case...
* - I wish he was a relative of mine! :)

C'mon... how many people having such crazy money you think would give their money to charity organizations to help homeless and starving people? Now he gives job to some at least. Anyway it's better than nothing :becky:

Hmmm, I think the point that Hoopy is making, is that the man could spend $100,000 employing people to build shelters for unfortunates living in cardboard boxes. The economic effect would still be the same, and would in addition gain the Oligarch a lot more respect and humanitarian credibility. This type of case is purely about public perception.

There are no people in Russia living in cardboard boxes. There are special shelters for them. Yes, not all of them want to live there and choose to wander about the country, to be free like birds. But it's their own choice.
As for giving charity to British homeless, why should he think of them? The Queen thinks of all her people. God save the Queen!
It's his own money. He can spend it as he wishes. He prefers to entertain his son, to strengthen his family. What bad is in it? He has gained his right to have a child( look at the topic on this subject), :) he is a caring loving father. :)
God save Russian oligarchs who can help British workers!

I just wish those free birds stopped calling my intercom at 4 am trying to get into the building and sleep on the stairs. Next time I'll be giving them the directions to the tree house. :becky:

Oh I don't dispute that he has every right to do what he wants with his own money. But I did NOT infer in any way that he should be specifically helping the "British" poverty gap, so please avoid twisting my words. You know full well that there are people in extreme poverty all over the world....... INCLUDING Russia. They might be thankful for a little consideration sent their way.
"he is a caring loving father." - If that includes squandering money on little Sergei in extreme quantities, then yes, he must be a caring loving father.
The whole matter is a moral issue, and we reap what we sow. :)

There are no people in Russia living in cardboard boxes.

I don't tell anything about your personal circumstances, because I really don't know anything except those facts which are known to everybody here. Moreover, I don't care. And then , why did you decide I am talking about you? We have a Russian saying: there is no fire without smoke. Is this a reason for your anger?

Well, Wolfie, if you built a tree-house yourself, there's no way you'd manage to put a plazma tv there and connect it to a satellite. And if you're a spoiled brat used to receive from your rich papa everything you ever demanded for, a tv-less tree-house is hardly something you would want :becky:

I remember me and some friends spent a weekend building a treehouse years and years ago…
Building it was...well...too much like hard work...and not much fun at all...
After we’d finished it…we furnished it…you know…some old carpets on the walls…followed by some stuck-together still soggy pages from a treasured porn mag find…
We sat in it for an hour or so…then thought…
“this is crap…no fun at all”
So we torched it.
That was fun.

Ok. The fun is in building a tree-house and when it is no fun anymore the fun is to leave it for homeless people and then to find another fun.

I insisted we check it was empty before setting light to it...but no...my friends couldn't wait...
Ah well...at least after the "unexplained...accidental...probably caused by a lightning bolt...:whistle2:" fire, our community could walk their dogs in the woods without fear of being accosted or 'flashed'...
