Try the on screen keyboard.Go to Start\Programs\Accessories\Accessibility\On-Screen Keyboard and try the space bar. If that works then the problem could be dirty contacts on the keyboard. Keyboards can be fixed, but it is usually easier and cheaper to replace the unit. You could buy a cheap PS2 type keyboard and use that.

It' s a laptop! So the change for the whole unit is expensive! Can be repaired but the price i don't know.

Diana, if its laptop it could be problem with contacts. I had same problem. Look on the back of computer - is everythig fixed good there?

As the laptop is only one month old it should be covered by a waranty - just don't mention CLM. Malasia are now quite civilised in their use of child labour - India and China on the other hand............

Just check if all back covers (sorry dont know its name) fixed good. I had discoectio because lost few small screws. You dont need to unwist computer:)

You could try remapping by using this free program. It should work for both XP and Vista, but Vista requires it to be run as an administrator.
It sounds like a spring, which is fixable.

Is not a mechanical problem and also difficult to break keyboard in this way.

This is what I should do:

1. Check keyboards installed in Control Panel. Be sure is russian and US.
2. In Language Tab, press Details. button and Keyboard Configuration. here you can see the keyboard installed. (Maybe are similar button names. I have spanish Win :))
3. As last option. See here: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/msklc.mspx

Try a system restoring. Sometimes works :becky:

Start / Programs / Accesories / System Tools / System Restore

Restore to yesterday or maybe 2-3 days ago. Windows will restore the system but never the data files. But better have a backup before do it.

Trying to fix it by restoring the system is like trying to fix a headache caused by an axe in a person's head by paying a visit to a shrink to talk about the problems that might be causing that headache. :becky::becky:

Actual keyboards are made even against CLM. They dont use springs and are made with 3 plastic layers, so they are water-resistant. Underscore key and space bar and separated, so mechanically is very difficult (in computing nothing is impossible) that they are connected.

I like these kind of problems. More strange, more I like. I was searching some info and is not first time it happens. But unfortunetely I didnt find solution :(

BTW, more ideas. Did you try to press SHIFT+Space bar ???? :becky:

And a tip. When working, tie CLM at other side of the room. ;)

Сочувствую проблеме, Ди. Клавиатуру ноута можно убить тысячью разными способами, правда большинство как правило предпочитает классику - пролить на клавиши чай/кофе/японский грибной суп или же просыпать семечки/сахарную пудру/тертый пармезан.

N способов убить свой ноутбук.


Кофе. Любите кофе? Чай? — 80% смерти всех ноутбуков, это пролитый напиток на клавиатуру, особенно если он сладкий или газированный, пиво, шампанское, квас, кола, сок или хотя бы просто вода.



Если это случилось когда ноутбук выключен и Вам удалось быстро перевернуть его клавиатурой вниз, до того как это все полилось на материнскую плату, то достаточно дождаться полного высыхания ноутбука.

Если это была вода, то все в порядке, ноутбук высох (обязательно дождитесь пока ноутбук высохнет полностью.) — работайте дальше.

Если все остальное, то желательно разобрать его, промыть клавиатуру в дистиллированной воде. Если Вам не удалось сразу перевернуть ноутбук, или жидкости пролилось сразу очень много, выньте аккумулятор и отнесите ноутбук в сервис-центр. что бы процесс коррозии не затронул дорожки клавиатуры и материнскую плату.


Последствия попадания жидкости в ноутбук могут проявится не сразу, а даже спустя несколько месяцев.

Если же это случилось при включенном ноутбуке, у вас все же есть 5 −10 секунд,чтобы спасти его — БЫСТРО перевернуть его, (чтобы жидкость не попала на материнскую плату), БЫСТРО вынуть батарею и параллельно дернуть питание из сети или нажать на кнопочку сетевого фильтра, (чтобы не произошло короткого замыкания).



Если Вам не удалось во время оказать первую помощь несчастному :(, будьте готовы к тому что скорее всего, попавшая в ноутбук жидкость вызовет короткие замыкания не только в материнской плате, но и в других компонентах ноутбука и придется распрощаться не только с мобильным компьютером, но и с данными на винчестере, которые нередко дороже самой системы....


Поэтому чтобы избежать подобных казусов, можно принять некоторые меры предосторожности:

закрывать ноутбук, после окончания работы на нем
не пить напитков, параллельно работая за ноутбуком, не ставить чашку или стакан рядом с клавиатурой, на клавиатуру
можно постелить на клавиатуру водонепроницаемую салфетку
отдавая друзьям на временное пользование, расскажите им о мерах предосторожности в обращении с ноутбуками

Шариковой ручкой. Для этого надо оставить ручку на ноутбуке, затем закрыть его, и...матрица испорчена окончательно и бесповоротно!


Кошки. Оставьте новый ноутбук открытым на ночь в помещении с кошками и велика вероятность что он будет «помечен». Странно? Это явление случается не менее часто, чем первое.



Автомобиль. а)Оставьте ноутбук на крыше автомобиля. б) Наедьте на него. в)Оставьте на ночь в автомобиле. И Вы рискуете его больше никогда там не увидеть...


Сеть. Игнорировать использование сетевого фильтра. Особенно если Вы пользуетесь ноутбуком в маленьких городах или на даче.


В грозу настоятельно рекомендуется отключать питание от сети, а также отключить ноутбук от сети Интернет.



Одеяло. Поставьте ноутбук на ковер или одеяло, и начните активно работать на нем или играть в игры. Через некоторое время гарантирован перегрев. Если процессор в ноутбуке сжечь трудно, то видео карту запросто!



Уронить.

Несмотря на то, что ноутбук создан для мобильной жизни, важно оберегать его от лишних ударов и сотрясений. Переносить его лучше в специальной сумке с прослойками из параллона и жесткими стенками, где ноутбук надежно закреплен ремнями.

Не сдавайте ноутбуки в багаж, берите его всегда исключительно с собой, как ручную кладь!

Если Вы в дороге, выключайте ноутбук на ухабистой дороге, при сотрясении в самолете или в вагоне поезда.



Попытаться отремонтировать.

Ноутбук значительно отличается от настольных систем, поэтому умения справляться с проблемами настольного ПК будет совсем недостаточно, чтобы помочь Вашему мобильному другу.

Не стоит даже разбирать ноутбук, если Вы не знаете, как его собрать обратно.

Итак, если у Вас нет специальных навыков в ремонте ноутбуков, запчастей, оборудования для пайки, для тестирования, то лучше обратитесь в сертифицированный сервис центр с хорошоей репутацией.



Блок питания.

От частоты неправильного подключения блока питания, он либо однажды сгорит, либо выгорит материнская плата. Поэтому порядок включения в сеть должен быть таким: вначале подцепляем блок питания к ноутбуку - только затем включаем в 220.



Включить сразу после мороза.

Как любой электронный прибор ноутбук подвержен "эффекту инея". Иней- это вода, а вода, как известно, проводник, замыкание же в сложном электронном устройстве приводит к выходу его из строя. Для сведения, материнская плата- второй по стоимости (после матрицы) компонент ноутбука, поэтому лучше выждать минут 40-60 перед включением (при сильных морозах лучше пару часов).



Эксперименты с автоадаптерами.

Если напряжение и сила тока блока питания не совпадают с вашими, это может повлечь за собой выгорание различных микросхем в ноктбуке. Так же надо быть аккуратными с выбором автоадаптера.
