Moldova

At the moment it seems likely that I will travel to Chisinau in January 2009.

I have read a little about it on the net and of course I can ask people who live there about it but has anyone here ever travelled to Moldova ?

I would be interested to read about the experiences of anyone who has travelled there and of course any tips or advice would be welcome.

Only been once and regrettably only stayed in the capital for a few days ( it was when I met the compulsive obsessive!! ) .
The City was great with a lovely centre area and full of interest .
However , it is the poorest country in Europe so outside is probably very basic . But as ever , and as far as I had time to mix , people were open and very OK .
I am sure you will enjoy , though I would not pick January to visit .
I have often wondered if you made Lyiv in the summer , and , if you did , what your reactions were ? It is a city and a part of Ukraine I have never visited and pictures of that City are often very striking . Got anything to show us ? I would enjoy .

taxi from aeroport to center of Chisinau costs 10 eu
The lunch or dinner in a nice restaurant for 2 persones = 20-50 eu (including wein)
here u have a huge meal

if u would like to have a dinner in expansive restaurant....arround 100 eu for 2:becky:

we have a lot of supermarckets wich work till 23'00
and few 24/24(fidesco center)

Sorry Ramon, I didn't get to Lviv, unfortunately I had to leave Ukraine suddenly and could not complete my trip.

But I do regret not going to Lviv and I can assure you I will go there one day.

Thats interesting...do those galleries go under Transnistria? You guys could expand them and open the other end in Ukraine.... just a thought.

About the meal's price....i guess that goes to pay the electricity to power lamps underground.:p
